KIDS' CORNER

City Lights
This celebration marks the illumination of Boston Common for the holiday season. Expected are country star Rascal Flatts, R&B artist Brian McKnight, Disney characters, Santa, and dancers from the Boston Ballet in excerpts from "The Nutcracker."

Greater Boston Youth Symphony For the season opener, the repertory orchestra is first up with Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 1." Then Federico Cortese conducts the senior orchestra in Liszt's "Les Preludes," Bartok's "Suite from the Miraculous Mandarin," and Kodaly's "Galanta Dances."

"The Secret Garden" An orphaned girl sent to live with her embittered uncle and his invalid son discovers a magical garden. Concord Youth Theatre presents a musical version of the classic story with 40 actors between the ages of 9 and 18.
