Tell Us What You Think!
The Globe is one of about 30 U.S. newspapers with an Ombudsman,
or reader advocate, who examines and responds to readers' comments and complaints
about news and editorial content of the paper.
The Ombudsman keeps Globe staff aware of the views of readers, questions, complaints, and even
praise. He also writes a regularly scheduled column
for the op-ed page about specific issues or complaints.
You can reach the Ombudsman by sending e-mail at ombud@globe.com or
call 617-929-3020. You can also leave a message at 617-929-3022.
Send
us your opinion!
Another way is to write a Letter
to the Editor. Such letters are limited to 200 words, are subject
to editing, and are not guaranteed to appear in the paper.
Letters to the editor
appear every day on the editorial page, since they, like the editorials,
are expressions of opinion. We get many more letters than space allows
us to print.
The Globe receives an average
of 350 letters to the editor every week and publishes only six or seven
every day because of limited space. Every other week a full page
of letters is published.
Letters to the
editor also appear every week in the regional sections (e.g., South Weekly,
West Weekly) of the Boston Sunday Globe and once a week in Sports.
Submit op ed offerings
The Boston Globe welcomes unsolicited op ed offerings. Please keep the piece
to 700 words and either fax it to 617-929-2098 or e-mail it to
Op Ed . Because of the high volume of mail,
we are unable to respond personally unless we are going to use the material.
If you have not been contacted within five business days, you may assume that
the piece was not selected for publication.
Write to the editors!
You may also voice your opinion by writing to the editors who manage
the various sections of the paper, such as Business, Sports, or Living/Arts.
